Florence, Italy (My Sportsbook) - Fiorentina fired coach Emiliano Mondonico after a slow start to the Serie A season. Mondonico took over midway through last season, and led Fiorentina to promotion. But the club has just one win through seven Serie A matches this season, and Mondonico appeared disgruntled after a 2-2 draw against Udinese on Sunday. The coach said he felt he had lost the confidence of the supporters and he asked the club to "reflect" on his position. "The club, with enormous surprise, has taken act of the comments made by Mondonico after yesterday's game, comments that the club doesn't agree with as his job was never on the line. Therefore Fiorentina have the obligation, for the importance of the project, the fans, the players, and the city, to take into account the personal problems outlined by Mondonico, and to end the job assigned to him," the club said in a statement. Sergio Buso, the club's goalkeeping coach, will serve as the interim coach. Buso will make his debut at Reggina on Wednesday.
