Lyon, France (My Sportsbook) - Juventus and French international striker David Trezeguet underwent surgery Tuesday on his injured left shoulder. Trezeguet had the operation done in Lyon by Gilles Walch, who stabilized the injured shoulder. The procedure was a success and the 26-year-old forward will return to Turin some time next week to begin rehabilitation. Trezeguet aggravated the shoulder injury in a match on October 3 against Udinese. He held out hope that the pain would subside and rest could serve as necessary therapy. However, after extensive testing and a week of rest, it became apparent that surgery would be mandatory in order to return at full strength. The Serie A season had started promisingly for Juve and Trezeguet. The resurgent club is currently atop the table with 16 points after six matches. Juventus has yet to lose this year and Trezeguet has four goals. Juve has also won both its Champions League matches during the current campaign and plays again Tuesday against Bayern Munich. Juventus coach Fabio Capello is woefully short up front with Trezeguet and Italian international Alessandro Del Piero both on the sidelines. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcelo Zalayeta stand as his only healthy options at the top of the attack, unless Del Piero is able to recover in time for the match against Bayern.
