Genoa, Italy (My Sportsbook) - Genoa's in-form goalkeeper Marco Amelia has played down suggestions that his international career is over after being overlooked by Marcello Lippi this month. The 27-year-old has been on the fringes of the national side since 2005 but has proved to be firmly behind number one Gianluigi Buffon despite impressing for Palermo and, after a summer transfer, Genoa. "I always give my best, then we will see. In any case I can confirm that I have been in contact with Lippi and we talked things over," Amelia explained. "I have been a part of the Nazionale for almost five years now and there have been times when I haven't been called up." (Courtesy of sportbox.tv)
