Bergamo, Italy (My Sportsbook) - AC Milan manager Leonardo is under plenty of pressure as his side visits second-from-the-bottom Atalanta on Sunday.
Milan has won only two of its first six games in league play, leaving the club in 11th place, and to make matters worse, the Rossoneri suffered a stunning 1-0 defeat to FC Zurich at the San Siro on Wednesday in Champions League play.
Much of the teams struggles can be attributed to a sluggish attack that has scored only one goal in its last five league games.
Brazilian teenager Pato has scored two of the three goals for Milan this season, but the rest of his aging teammates have yet to make their mark, with summer-signing Klaas-Jan Huntelaar failing to hit his stride, while Ronaldinho continues to frustrate with his inconsistent play.
The loss of Kaka seems to be having a bigger impact on the team than they expected, but midfielder Ignazio Abate feels as though the club needs some optimism, and that they can get some with a few wins.
"We must have faith and continue working hard during the week like we are already doing," Abate said. "We need some optimism around us. We have to do well to get the fans on our side. In important clubs like ours when things go bad the fans whistle but they can also take you high when there are victories."
A win is something that Milan needs very badly on Sunday, and they may be getting Atalanta at just the right time.
The Bergamo club has yet to record a win in its first six games, and like Milan, they bring a struggling attack into the game, having scored just twice so far this season.
Inter Milan was knocked from the top of the standings last weekend as they lost 1-0 to new leaders Sampdoria, and the Nerazzurri will try to rebound with a win at home against Udinese, which is just two points back of Inter.
Juventus is in second place, one point back of Sampdoria, and they are the only unbeaten team left in Serie A. Juve held Bayern Munich to a 0-0 draw in Germany in Champions League play on Wednesday, and they will try to pick up another win when they travel to Palermo.
Livorno is on the bottom of the table and they go for their first win of the season at Siena, Bari hosts Catania, Genoa heads to Bologna trying to snap a three-game winless skid, Cagliari entertains Chievo, Napoli invades Roma and Fiorentina plays host to Lazio.
