Rome, Italy (My Sportsbook) - Diego scored a goal in each half to lead Juventus to a 3-1 win over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.
The former Werder Bremen standout put his side ahead after 25 minutes, but his opener was canceled out by Roma's Daniele De Rossi. However, Diego restored the one-goal lead in the 68th minute before fellow Brazilian Felipe Melo added an insurance tally in stoppage time.
Juve has now won its first two games to start the season, while Roma's campaign has not gone so well with the team losing its first two matches.
Tiago almost put Juve in front with a glancing header that forced goalkeeper Julio Sergio to make a good reaction save. However, a mistake in midfield two minutes later allowed the visitors to take the lead.
Diego stole the ball at the halfway line from Roma defender Marco Cassetti, and he dribbled all the way into the area, held off a defender, and neatly finished off the play by tucking it inside the far post.
It took 10 minutes for Roma to level the match as David Pizarro's quickly- taken free kick allowed De Rossi to smash a shot into the upper corner from 30 yards past a surprised Gianluigi Buffon in the Juve goal.
Amauri then curled a shot off the post from the edge of the area for Juve, while Roma almost took the lead right before the halftime whistle when Francesco Totti was stopped by Buffon just as he entered the box.
It took until the midway point in the second half for the tie to be broken, and it came after a nice pass from Vincenzo Iaquinta put Diego in on goal. He then got into the area on the right and rolled his shot inside the far corner.
Totti came close again with 11 minutes to play as he had Buffon beaten from the top of the box, but watched the ball crash off the post.
Melo then put the finishing touches on the win as he took possession of the ball in midfield and was allowed to dribble the ball to within 20 yards of the net before driving a left-footed shot into the bottom corner.
Sampdoria joined Juve with two wins from two games as they downed Udinese, 3-1, Emiliano Moretti scored the lone goal in Genoa's 1-0 win against Atalanta, and Parma beat Catania 2-1 as Alberto Paloschi scored the winner early in the second half.
