New York, NY (My Sportsbook) -
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson,
Carolina Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers and
New York Giants special teamer Chase Blackburn were selected as the NFC's top players for Week 10 of the NFL season.
Peterson captured offensive honors with a standout performance against the Green Bay Packers. He ran for 192 yards and scored the winning touchdown on a 29-yard jaunt with 2:22 remaining in Minnesota's 28-27 victory. The win pushed the Vikings into a tie with Chicago atop the NFC North.
The rushing performance was the fourth-best in franchise history. He also caught three passes for 33 yards on the way to his third weekly award in just two seasons.
Peppers earned the defensive award for the second time in his career after he tied a Carolina record with three sacks and added a pair of forced fumbles in the Panthers' 17-6 win at Oakland. He notched three sacks in a game for the seventh time in his career and became the second Panther to win a weekly award this year, joining quarterback Jake Delhomme in Week 4.
Blackburn posted a team-high three special teams tackles and recovered a fumble on a kickoff return in New York's 36-31 victory at Philadelphia on Sunday night. The fumble recovery helped set up a go-ahead field goal in the first quarter, and on defense, he also came up with a tackle on 4th-and-1 with under two minutes remaining in the contest.
Other nominees for the offensive award included Carolina running back DeAngelo Williams, who ran for a career-high 140 yards with a 69-yard touchdown in the win against the Raiders; Giants running back Brandon Jacobs, who finished with 126 rushing yards and a pair of scores against the Eagles; and Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner, who completed 32-of-42 passes for 328 yards with three touchdowns in a 29-24 victory over San Francisco.
Defensive consideration went to Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce, who had eight tackles against Philadelphia, while San Francisco return specialist Allen Rossum was nominated for the special teams award for his 104-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Arizona.
