Nyon, Switzerland (My Sportsbook) - The FIFA/Coca-Cola Men's rankings were released on Wednesday and they saw England climb four spots to move back into the top 10, while European champions Spain remained comfortably on top of the table.
The rest of the top 10 saw a bit of a shake-up, however, as Germany (2nd, up 1) and Italy (3rd, down 1), the Netherlands (4th, up 1) and Brazil (5th, down 1), Argentina (6th, up 1) and Croatia (7th, down 1), and Russia (8th, up 1) and the Czech Republic (9th, down 1) have all swapped places.
Switzerland was one of many teams that enjoyed a big improvement inside the top 50 with the Swiss jumping 18 places to get to 27th.
Serbia (30th, up 10), Ecuador (31st, up 11) and Slovakia (45th, up 15) also made big strides this past month, while Mali (49th, up 4) joined Slovakia as newcomers to the top 50.
While the top 20 saw many small adjustments to its rankings, there were a few teams that suffered big drops, including Scotland (33rd, down 7), Japan (38th, down 6), Colombia (40th, down 7), and Northern Ireland (42nd, down 7), each of whom struggled in the latest round of its respective qualifiers.
The United States (24th, down 3) was upset 2-1 by Trinidad and Tobago in qualifying, which led to their slight drop, however they remain the top-ranked team in CONCACAF as Mexico (25th, down 1) also moved in the wrong direction.
